About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Gatineau, Restaurant Au Vieux Duluth offers an authentic Mediterranean and Greek culinary experience that expertly blends rich flavors with generous portions. From the moment you step inside this vibrant eatery on Chem. de la Savane, you are greeted by an inviting atmosphere alive with chatter and the tantalizing aromas of grilled meats and aromatic spices.

The menu is a stunning showcase of traditional Greek and Mediterranean favorites, elevated with a modern twist. Standouts include the perfectly seasoned Poulet Grilloir Chicken Au Grilloir, tender and smoky, and the Shish Kebab, which bursts with marinated flavors locked in by skillful grilling. The Surf N'Turf Au Vieux Duluth, combining juicy chicken breast with succulent butterfly shrimp, is a true feast for the senses, each bite offering a harmony of textures and tastes that linger delightfully on the palate.

Seafood lovers will find the Filet De Doré irresistible — a lightly breaded European doré fillet served with a creamy garlic sauce and a citrusy zest that cuts through richness with finesse. The Brochette de Poulet and the beloved Chicken Kebab both boast tender, flame-kissed perfection, seasoned just right to highlight the purity of the ingredients.

Perhaps the most memorable part of dining at Au Vieux Duluth is sharing the Mediterranean delight of the Pikilia Méditerranéen, a platter that lets you savor a variety of authentic tastes including cooling Tzatziki and the unmistakable flavors of L'authentique Souvlaki. This communal dining experience shines in an atmosphere buzzing with energy — always lively, often busy, filled with laughter and the clinking of glasses.

While the restaurant hums with activity, making it less suited for intimate candlelit dinners, it is the perfect place for gathering with friends or family to celebrate good food and good company. Regular guests praise the attentive service even amid bustling crowds, and many appreciate the freedom to bring their own bottle of wine to complement an already memorable meal.

End your meal on a sweet note with their delightful desserts—whether it’s the silky Crème Caramel, the richly decadent Chocolate Royal, or the luscious Gâteau Au Fromage Chocolat Noisette (Chocolate Hazelnut Cheesecake). Each one is crafted to provide a perfect finish, harmonizing classic sweetness with Mediterranean flair.

In summary, Au Vieux Duluth is a celebration of Greek and Mediterranean flavors, skillfully executed in a warm, casual setting where the food takes center stage. Whether you’re savoring the smoky depths of a chicken brochette or sharing a platter of vibrant mezzes, this Gatineau staple promises a memorable dining experience that touches both the heart and the taste buds.

Last night, I had dinner at the Vieux Duluth, and even though the restaurant was quite busy, the experience was still really enjoyable. I ordered the chicken brochette, which turned out to be the highlight of the meal, tender, well‑seasoned, and grilled perfectly. The sides rounded everything out nicely. What made the evening even better was sharing it with good company. Between the lively atmosphere and great conversation, the whole experience felt warm and memorable. Overall, The restaurant delivered delicious food and a setting that’s great for a relaxed night out.

We have eaten at this restaurant multiple times. We love the shrimp, and the butter sauce that comes with it is to DIE for. I always have a good time. The restaurant can be a bit loud, so go here for the food. It isn't a place to take a date for romantic ambience, but it is definitely a place to take your girlfriend to enjoy delicious food, and have a bottle of wine that you bought next door at the saq and saved a bundle on lol. The food can be hit and miss but I've never felt the need to send it back. Just sometimes it's a little over cooked but the flavor is still there. I plan on coming for dinner again later this week, and we will be bringing a bottle of wine to enjoy with our meal. The staff is attentive and friendly, and very helpful even though I don't speak French fluently

We had the Butterfly Shrimp and the Filet de Doré dinner plates. Both were served with a house salad, rice and potatoes. Our server was friendly and attentive.

It was our second time at this restaurant. It was very busy on a Saturday night, the restaurant was packed. We were in the lineup for a half hour to be seated and waited more than a half hour to receive our plates. The food was amazing, and the portion was very generous. The service was adequate considering how busy they were. The atmosphere was great, a lot of vibes.

So busy Every day of the week, you should wait on the line, but the reason is, because this restaurant has a good service and nice food. You can also bring your wine. Good place to have birthday gathering. A bit noisy. Best time its at 8:00 pm. The kitchen closed 8:15 as server said. They dont get new orders after 8:15pm.
